Mainland China reported 99 new corona virus infections on Saturday (11/4), more than double the previous day. That happened when the number of daily import cases reached a record.
In addition, highlighting other major risk sources, the newly reported asymptomatic Covid-19 case was almost doubled to 63 on Saturday. According to the China National Health Commission (NHC), the case is up from 34 compared to one day before.
Nearly all new infections on Saturday, the highest daily number since March 6, involved migrants from abroad. Only two of the 99 cases were cases of local transmission.
Shanghai, China's business center, recorded more than half of cases of transmission of imports. The city reported 52 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, which were all Chinese citizens who arrived from abroad.
Of all the new cases in Shanghai, 51 of them were related to people who were on a flight from Russia on April 10. The 52nd case is a Chinese citizen who arrived in Shanghai after traveling from Canada.
Heilongjiang Province reported 21 new import cases on April 11, all of them Chinese citizens who had arrived from Russia. The total number of Covid-19 infections in mainland China now reaches 82,052 with 3,339 deaths.
