Pakistan Waits For Arab Decision About Hajj Until Ramadan

Minister of Religious Relations and Harmony of Cross-Belief in Pakistan Sahibzada Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that he was still waiting for the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the implementation of the haj season this year. The decision of the Pakistani Government regarding the postponement of the pilgrimage this year will be announced in the middle of Ramadan. Sahibzada said, it continues to establish contact with the Hajj authorities in mid of Ramadan.

Sahibzada said, his party continued to establish contact with the Hajj authorities in Saudi Arabia. There are various options that are studied in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including only allowing local Arab residents to hajj or only allowing Middle Eastern citizens to hajj.

"There is another option to allow just 10 percent of the pilgrimage quota from each country in the Hajj season this year," Sahibzada was quoted as saying by Business Recorder, Tuesday (4/14).

Even so, the final decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is still waiting for the results of consultations with various parties, including institutions that deal with the corona virus. "The hajj season has been canceled about 40 times in history. This year the hajj season is being tested by the corona situation," Sahibzada said.

Previously, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had asked for postponement of the completion of the contract related to the implementation of the pilgrimage to all countries. This delay is carried out while waiting for the decision on whether or not the pilgrimage will be implemented this year.
