Production of 2016 Ford F-650 & F-750 begins in Ohio

Ford has begun production of its 2016 F-650 and F-750 Super Duty trucks at its Avon Lake, Ohio plant, the former home of the E-Series van. The plant still produces E-Series Cab Chassis and stripped chassis for the RV and commercial market. The move to Ohio secures 1000 jobs in Ohio, and represents a transfer of production north of the border once again. The previous-generation F-650 and F-750 were built in Mexico in a joint venture arrangement with Navistar, which built the International DuraStar on a shared chassis.

The all-new 2016 F-650 and F-750 feature Ford-exclusive engines in the form of the proven 6.8 L gas V10 or 6.7 L Power Stroke diesel V8. The previous generation model offered the Cummins 6.7 L inline 6 cylinder as an option. The V10 can be specified with a gaseous fuel prep package, which allows the engine to run on propane or natural gas, to suit the buyer’s needs.

The F-650 and F-750 are available in regular, SuperCab and crew cab bodystyles, and the choice of hydraulic or pneumatic brakes, as well as a tractor trailer configuration. Both engines feature a five year, 250000 mile powertrain warranty.

The Avon Lake assembly plant was originally opened in 1974, and employs 1400 hourly workers, and has more than 19 conveyor miles of assembly line, and covers 3.7 million square feet on a total site area of 419 acres.
